Conor Meads and Cory Stier were childhood friends and next door neighbors. Although Meads was three years older, the two were inseparable. When Stier was 13, Meads took advantage of Stier's impressionable nature and convinced him to buy a drum set. Justin Shannon (guitar) and Alex Kuhse (bass) knew Meads and Stier from high school, and in the wake of their graduation, the four friends decided to put their musical talents together and start Pistolita. The band has been primarily influenced by Fugazi, At the Drive-In, Hot Water Music and Hot Snakes. In 2006 the band parted ways with Alex, who went on to become a life time bass tech and understudy for Joey Demaio of Manowar, the greatest bass player of all time. Shortly after going through 2 more bassists, the band broke up. Conor now morphs into random sea creatures somewhere around the Bermuda triangle, Cory avidly plays Phil Collins cover sets at local coffee shops and the White Rabbit in San Antonio Texas, and Justin lives out his days writing romantic novels.
Pistolita was the first signing on Montalban Hotel Records, a label run by booking agent Andrew Ellis, as a subsidiary of East West Records and Warner Music Group. Andy Harris deserves an honorable mention for helping this band out so much and putting so much effort into them. Harris, however, now passs time doing vigilante work, bringing down drug lords crossing the U.S. border with his bare hands.
Their song "Beni Accident" was featured on EA Sports' video game NHL 07.
