The Swan King

“The Swan King’s a heavy rock/punk Robert Fripp-inspired trio from Chicago featuring guitarist/vocalist Dallas Thomas (Circle Of Animals, ex-Asschapel), bassist Jamie Drier (ex-Planes Mistaken For Stars) and drummer Zafar Musharraf. Their newly released eight-song Sanford Parker recorded debut Eyes Like Knives, which follows the 2009 demo Good Deeds, is reminiscent of Drive Like Jehu’s Yank Crime and Unwound in equal measures. It’s worth starting with post-”Test Tone” opener “Good Deeds,” but the entire album’s a lot of fun, especially if you have a ’90s post-hardcore itch that needs scratching.”

Let’s Go Eat The Factory примечателен из-за двух причин: это первая пластинка выпущена легендами лоу-файя за 8 лет, и в записи принимал участие классический состав группы, который включает в себя Полларда, Тобина Спрута, Митча Митчелла, Грэга Демоса и Кевина Фенелла. Этот лонгплей впитал в себя лучшие качества тех старых записей группы, которые полюбились фанатами GBVs. Впадаешь в ностальгию, прослушивая 21 песню общей длинной в 42 минуты, ведь это все те же Guide By Voices, что и 20 лет назад: та же энергетика, все те же приёмы, все тот же лоу-фай.
