Вибрафонист Кэл Тжадер (Callen Radcliffe "Cal" Tjader, Jr) родился 16.07.1925, в городе Сент-Луис, шт. Миссури, умер 05.05.1982, на Филиппинах.
Стал известен в 50–60-е годы как активный пропагандист синтеза джаза и латиноамериканской танцевальной музыки. Джордж Ширинг (http://www.neformat.com.ua/forum/jazz-blues/44884-george-shearing.html) сказал о нем: "Редко встретишь вибрафониста с таким великолепным ритмическим чувством".

Родился в шведско-английской артистической семье. Его родители — профессиональные танцоры, открывшие в Сан-Франциско танцевальную школу. В 1946–50 учился в музыкально-педагогическом колледже в Сан-Хосе (шт. Калифорния), в 1947 полностью перешел на вибрафон и уже через год выступал в группе Джерома Ричардсона. В 1953–54 работал в квинтете Джорджа Ширинга, а в следующие годы собирал собственные группы и исполнял преимущественно оджазированную латиноамериканскую танцевальную музыку. В конце 50-х годов в его ансамбле работали Монго Сантамария и Уилли Бобо. Я, кроме басистов, еще и вибрафонистов люблю :in_love: А Кэл Тжадер, кроме вибрафона, играл еще и на барабанах, бонго, конго, тимпанах и пианино. Кстати, альбом с Брубеком мне понравился, как раз не столько вибрафоном, сколько ударными. Heat Wave - совместная работа вместе с Кармен МакРей.

его работы как барабанщика не слышал, а вот вибрафонист он конечно крутой (они некрутые не бывают:stupid:), хоть и очень много латины которая мне очень редко приходится по вкусу. Хотя вот именно такую латину как на видео я больше всего не люблю:stupid:. А вот Heat Wave крутой альбом, отлично сотрудничают вместе вокал с вибрафоном:in_love: Всем качать
 
Ох, Сережка, мне самой видео не нравится, но я только его смогла найти , где живой Тжадер, а не слайды :hz:
Как-то неудачно у меня сегодня с поиском было.
 
:in_love: Вокала а-ля Cal Tjader (ну или возможны другие варианты, а в особенности женский :stupid: ) чего так не хватает Bill Evans и Michel Petrucciani к изящно красивым пассажам пианино :in_love:

This Album has a Far, Middle and Near East theme running through it. The arrangements and production are very adventurous for the time. Lalo Schifrin is very evident on this Album and his unique style is rapidly taking form. Most of the Schifrin arrangements have a filmic quality to them. This could easily be a soundtrack album.
"The Fakir" is pure Schifrin with the percussion taking the driving seat. "Song of Yellow River" has a great Bass line that has real charge to it. "Sahib" is brilliant with it's lazy groove and fantastic drumming by Eddie Shaughnessy. "China Nights" is an example of great mellow jazz. The final track on the Album "Hot Sake" is Lalo doing what he does best.

This has to be one of the greatest Albums ever recorded and is a personal favourite. Every track on this Album is a Classic and the Musicianship is exceptional.
Resemblance is a slow burner that once the bass takes control becomes an addictive groove. The playing by Tjader and Palmieri is outstanding.
My favourite track on the Album, if that is possible, is “Mi Montuno”. This begins with solo piano phrases, which are replaced by a solo bass. The rhythm takes off allowing the talents of these to masters to shine once again until it ends in a crescendo of percussion and piano.
Side Two begins with “Samba Do Suenho” which displays the most beautiful and subtle Vibes by Tjader. A glorious trombone solo follows him until the fade. “Guajira Candela” is a repetitive phrase that is addictive in the extreme; suddenly it breaks into a Vibe driven refrain that is inspired. “Come an’ Get It” has been a staple dance floor stomper in the London Jazz Club scene for years.

This Album hides what has to be the best cover of a Rolling Stones Song ever. Cal Tjader's Gimme Shelter is in itself a Classic and never fails to get people dancing. It was Arranged by Ed Bogas. Rita Dowling plays wonderful Moog Synthesizer parts through out the Track. The Rhythm Section, Micheal Smithe and Pete Escovedo on Congas, Coke Escovedo on Timbales and either Richard Berk or Lee Charlton on Drums, are seriously working over-time on this inspired rendition!
The title track 'Agua Dulce' is a Groover and has some great percussive work. "Descarga" is infectious and has a great groove.
There are some very laid back numbers on this Album that could easily pass-off as Lift Music, such as 'Somewhere in the Night" and "Invitation" but at closer inspection they show Cal's gift for subtle Vibe work. "Now" is a trippy number with a some great vibes by the Master and Bill Perkins gives a nice Sax Solo. "Morning" the last cut of the Album has a distinct Roy Ayres feel about it. It has some nice horns and is very funky.
Really it is for the stunning Gimme Shelter that sets this album apart. There are better over-all albums by Tjader but this one has a special place in my collection.

Once in awhile an album comes along that blows your mind and this for me is one of those. This is Cal Tjader Live and at his best. Each performance is a Master Class.
The first track "Leyte" is simply Classic. It has recently been sampled by Pete Rock, very successfully, into an excellent Hip-Hop Instrumental track called to 'To Each His Own'. "Soul Sauce" has a nice verbal introduction by Cal himself and this version is faultless with a great Bass Solo by John Heard. "Philly Mambo" is rocking and "Manteca" is better than the studio version. All in all this is a fantastic album and if you love Cal Tjader, a must have.
