Get in! This sounds absolutely nothing like you’d expect from a pop punk band who existed in the early mid 90’s. Heck no. This sounds like a new band trying to sound like pop punk from the early 90’s. The slick instrumentation, the chunky guitar tone and massive, massive hooks totally give it away as a contemporary imposter re-living the past. Apparently I’m wrong though. This lot fully existed over 15 years ago. Well I’ll be... This is just pure great. No fancy adjectives or pointless sentence filling comparisons. This is a collection of all Gan’s releases, but in the true spirit of pop punk, all the songs pretty much sound the same anyway. It also has 24 tracks, so it’s as close to being a Screeching Weasel album as you can get. The guy sounds a bit Ben Weasel too, and whoever does the harmonies sounds a bit like Karl Alverez. It’s like you’ve invited all your favourite pop punk icons round for tea, and you’re breaking out the karaoke machine for a bit of a sing song. If you’ve got the patience to sit through 24 tracks of pop punk songs about girls, then this will be your favourite record of this year, and possibly last year. Perhaps even the entire 21st century, seeing as it has been quite dire for great pop punk. It’s kind of cheating though, since this is a collection of releases from last century. Bah! I don’t even care. I’m listening to this NOW, and right NOW, this is Grood. Great and good. Fuck sake though, they just had to go and cover 99 Red Balloons at skate-punk speeds, didn’t they? Skip it, pretend it didn’t happen. GREAT 23 TRACK POP PUNK RECORD. Enjoy.
