Matka Teresa started to play around 2000/2001 in Amsterdam, Holland. From
the beggining the band was strongly connected to the local squatting
scene and remain active in this matter till these days. The idea of
bringing this band together came from both vocalist Arthur & Extreme
Martin. For the first year we played with drummer (Thomas), guitarist
(Mr.Claverson) ans various bass players including at the beginning
Luciano and than Ruji. After Ruji quit the rest found a new bass player
(Alart) but right after that Mr.Claverson left from band so Alart
switched to the guitar and new guy Kfadrat started to mosh on bass.
During that time Matka Teresa manage to record few songs that later went
on few split seveninches with such bands as Fuck On The Beach, Unholy
Grave, Fubar, Smg and other releases. We played lots of great gigs with
bands like: Purulent (Col), Fubar (Nl), Maggot (Nl), Autoritar (Ger),
Elysium (F), Gruesome Stuff Relish (Sp), Rot (Br), Phobia (Usa),
Malignant Tumour (Cz/Nl), Makiladoras (Nl), Wojczech (Ger), George Bitch
jr. (Fr), Suppository (Nl), Skrack (Ger), Lisbeth Fisher (F) ... and
many many more. We also played on the "Mini grind fiesta" Part one and
two in Holland; "World Wide Grind Core Unity" tour together with Fubar
in Holland and Belgium; "Grind The System" in 2004 with Elysium and
George Bitch Jr.; "Victims Of the Grind" over Holland and Germany with
Polish Deformed, and lots of gigs in Germany and of course Czech Rep.
Through these few years Matka Teresa always supported local squatting
scene including all types of DIY actions and especially antifascist
movement ... not only in Words but in action!! What interests the most
is that Matka always had an international line up; all members had
played before in different brutal punk/grind/noise/crust bands all over
the world: Process Terror, Mass Slaughter, Los Alamos... all from
Poland; Dutch bands as Serious Joke, Olho de Gato, Doomsday ok, Histeria
and from Brazil: Acao Positiva, Manifest, Abuso Sonoro, Point of No
Return. In second half of 00' Matka went on hiatus and members focused
on other projects. Arthur & Extreme Martin joined D-compose; Mr.
Claverson started Sangre and Ruji moved to Germany to play in Who's
My
Saviour, later Idiot Savant and now Bad Luck Rides on Wheels. Right now
Matka is in the middle of gathering new line up, so far: Arthur is on
drums, Extreme Martin on vocals and on guitar SO Romek who used to play
drums for polish crust band SO WAR.
