Группа из радиоактивной Японии. Собрались в далёком 1988 году, но полноформатников у них всего 3. По музыке намешали грайндкор_хардкор_краст_трешмитол
They pack more action into a 2 and a half minute song, than some bands get into an entire album.
These Tokyo thrashers had been rattling their nation with a megathrust of of their own thrash energy, for about 20 years before the great earthquake devastated Japan last month. I'm glad to see that the band made it through that disaster and even gladder to get the privilege of reviewing their latest release. Which came out about 7 years after their last one, A Road to a Brilliant Future. Within that time, they toured Europe with Metal, Hardcore, and Punk bands. Of course they were also working on this album, somewhere during that frame of time.
This new album, Proof of the Truth, is comprised of 9 speedy tracks with a seismic magnitude that lasts for only about 19 minutes in length. The songs average about 2.05 minutes apiece, but there is so much activity within these tracks, that they seem much longer than that. Until you look at your watch, after the album is over.
The music features a very tightly played thrash attack, with an old school style of punk aggression. It's blazing fast and raw, with guitar slashes that bring Pig Destroyer to mind. Yet it's melodic rift shifting and change ups from grinding rhythms to flashy guitar solo's, make them very comparable to Warpath(UK). They have a knack for speed, like Enforcer(SWE), but with a far more abrasive sound than either of those bands.
The vocals of Hideyuki Okahara, yell out fast, keeping pace with the velocity of the music. His voice has a grim growling quality about it, with an unmistakeable resemblance to the earlier renditions of Petr Krystof with Krabathor. The drum playing of Hiroshi Yoshioka is very flashy, his melodic beat patterns add yet another artistic dimension of talent to their sound. The lyrics are about the everyday problems that people face. Some songs are about problems with society and some songs are about the problems of people who won't get off of their asses to do things for themselves. The band obviously has excellent chemistry, as they've only had 1 line up change in over 20 years.
This is a damn good Thrash album. They pack more action into a 2 and a half minute song, than some bands get into an entire album. My only problem with it is that it's only 19 minutes long. So I remedied that problem by buying their previous album, A Road to a Brilliant Future, as a juxtapose on my I pod. The songs on that album are darker and heavier, but less melodic than what's on this newer release. But that album is 20 minutes long, with 15 songs that average about 1.33 minutes apiece, so there we go again with that. Beyond Description is loaded with talent and experience. I think that they need to tour North and South America, to get more publicity.
