Evidence Smrti, Demo, raw hardcore thrash, 2008, Gasmask Records, Czech Republic, www.myspace.com/evidencesmrti
Air full of soot, all just in grainy shades of black, rivers are slowly moving masses of corpses. Breathing hurts and only things moving through the endless stubble-field are charcoaled human wrecks.
Evidence Smrti (Evidence of Death) is raw hardcore punk with several things making it standing out of the line. The vocals are as if taken from old thrash metal or stenchcore (old crust such as Amebix), bit more hoarsely spoken than sung. The music is no frills fast angry hardcore with songs between one and two minutes (quite unlike thrash metal or stench). All important is being said in given time, nothing needs to be repeated. Guitar throws few short, sad and naked to the bone solos which make me shiver. The lyrics are in Czech (translation is present in booklet) and are precisely fitting the atmosphere of nihilism and rawness in world burned by fire. Forget the positive hardcore with lyrics telling you taking drugs is bad, this is the reign of the death!
Evidence Smrti links fury of hardcore punk with the dirt of Hellhammer (or other proto-black metal) and post-apocalyptic atmosphere of Amebix. Quite anachronic, yet very entertaining, with no space for boredom. The demo is sixteen minutes and nine tracks of excellent and very non-generic hardcore. When playing live, all said is true, just more.
Written for cáry mlhy.
