Абердинская старейшая группа, образованная в 1983 году. Играющая типа"грандж", но на деле играющая всё, что можно извлечь из гитары, баса и барабанов.
Предтеча дрона, нойз-рока, стонера, дума и психоделии.
Стоит упомянуть, что названием их песни были названы всем известные японцы Boris.
В общем, писать о них можно много, Я лишь укажу их изменяющийся состав и основную движущую силу коллектива, а также обширную дискографию.
Группа захватывающая практически все стили данного раздела и в тоже время, конкретно, ни к какому из них не относящаяся:)

The Melvins announced Pinkus Abortion Technician their next album, which will feature both Steven McDonald and Jeff Pinkus on bass simultaneously!

The album is scheduled to be released on April 20th via Ipecac Recordings.

In addition to that, they've also released the dates for their U.S. tour which begins in late April, check out the tour dates below.

"With our upcoming release, we double your bass player with Steven McDonald and Jeff Pinkus holding down the bottom," explains Dale Crover. "It's an experiment in the low end of the aural spectrum where we asked ourselves, 'Would it work?' 'Could it work??' 'Should it work???' The answers were yes, yes and YES!"

"We've never had two bass players," adds Buzz Osborne. "We've had two drummers and two guitar players, so it makes total sense to now have two bass players. We'll be taking this two-prong bass attack on the road as well which should prove to be interesting. 'Pinkus Abortion Technician' is a radically great record and was a stone groove to record. We drank a lot of coffee and enjoyed each other's company. I like Steven and Jeff a great deal. I admire their bass playing and singing and both of them can grill a mean steak."

ознакамливаюсь сейчас с бесконечной дискографией сабжа, вразброс, хаотически. На новый альбом (не слушал) читал рецензию на металсакс, и, при всем презрении к ресурсу, понравилась одна цитата:

With such a storied history, one which the band could easily lean on for tour after tour ad infinitum, putting the gas on a recording/release schedule seems unnecessary unless they feel they’re adding value. Is that what PAT does? If so, I’m not hearing it.

И действительно, там и в классических альбомах филлера хватает, так они еще и продолжают (на четвертом десятке существования!) вываливать релиз за релизом

На Пинкусе кавер на Зе Битлз довольно годный ...

после восьми прослушанных релизов Базза и Ко за последний месяц () понял, что при всей своей эклектичности они на удивление однообразны трудноразличимы похожи. Видимо, этим сабж и руководствуется при создании свежего альбома: предыдущие для них как бы уже не существуют, так что можно делать следующие...только получается, по сути, то же самое

Если взглянуть на это с позитивной стороны, то это называется "свой узнаваемый стиль", и это ставит Мелвинс на один уровень с легендами вроде Моторхэд, Тул, Мэйден и Эсидиси - кто бы как к этим бандам не относился, но отрицать наличие у них собственных почерков глупо. Но повторю замечание из металсаксовой рецензии: зачем так гореть по количеству, если можно сосредоточиться на качестве? Надеюсь обнаружить оное вот тут:

Прожектор, гудини и стонер витч слушай, они хорошие

а то пока с восьми релизов суммарно оставил себе переслушивать треков 5-6
