MILANKU
In november 2005, Carl Ruest etJean-Remi Charbonneau (both ex-members of the long time gone band “Once I wasthe One I killed”) , recently moved to Montreal, set up a meeting withGuillaume Boudreau-Monty (ex Issue Sixteen, 27 pigeons) and GuillaumeChamberland (bass/singer for Kraken). A second meeting is agreed a couple dayslater. From some random, and sometimes even out of tunes riffs, these fourmusicians defined their identities : Milanku. Milanku was named after theMilan Kundera “La Lenteur” novel. Since Jean-Remi had to leave the band, HubertTaschereau (Autumn Picture) joined the band somewhere during the 2007springtime. In the next summer, Milanku put out 200 copy of a totally DIY firstsplash of their deep slowliness with a 5 songs selftitled EP. A few monthslater, “Le Tigre Records” printed about 200 more copies with a new design.Since, members of Milanku developed a complex and deep affiliation toward theirmusic and put out their full length “Convalescence”, a 5 songs silk-screened digipak CD in a cooperativeprocess along with “D7I Records” and “Le Tigre Records”. Sad to see theirdrummer and friend Guillaume Boudreau-Monty leaving the band in the verybeginning of autumn 2008, Milanku was fortunate enough to see Julien Paradis(The Discord of a fogotten sketch) joining the band. Milanku creates and givesa deep melancoly consisting in a slow and evasive musical journey focused onrepetitions and evolutives structures.
