Маловідомий колектив, який зародився десь у середині 90-их, коли по традиції друзяки п'ючи пиво у пабі, вирішили створити гурт. Не дивлячись на те, що видали спліти з досить значимими бандами (Unholy Grave, Iron Lung, The Endless Blockade...) на серйозних лейблах (625 Thrashcore, Sound Pollution...), інфи про них майже нуль - ні сторінки, ні майспейса, фотку і логотип - і то ледве знайшов. Зате музло у них офігенне

Why do you hate the term powerviolence?

Andy: It's lame and sounds like a term for right wing heavy metal. I get the feeling that most of the bands referring to themselves as power violence are doing it to be lumped in with some scene they think's cool. Remember when any band with a blast beat was called grindcore, even Infest? We do.

Jamie: Personally, I think powerviolence is a term more confined by geography and time more than anything. Neanderthal, Crossed Out, Man Is the Bastard and Spazz (and, by virtue of being around at the time No Comment and Capitalist Casualties) were Power Violence - I don't think anyone else can lay claim to that title....

у них в пальбоме Coded messages in slowed down songs - сладжевых ингридиентов ну просто до хера.
Причём уровня Баззовен и Брэйнойл
.Жаль запись херовая, тихая.Так бы ваще рубали не по детски.Но в любом случае - охуенная и разнообразная банда.

2002 - The Curse Of Shank

Anyone who hasn't heard SHANK yet, hasn't heard truly lip-splitting power violence. This is a semi-discography CD that collects tracks from their split 7"s with MINUTE MANIFESTO, UNHOLY GRAVE, SCALPLOCK, plus a bunch of comp tracks and some unreleased gems. SHANK are musically always on the verge of reaching escape velocity, but just went you think it can't get any more frantic, they drop in a stop-and-go riff for contrast. I said it before, and I'll say it again* SHANK is one of those select bands that was not part of the first-wave of power violence, but is good enough that they sound like they were. Besides, when a band is this willing to use their intellect as well as their instruments, they deserve praise. The bountiful liner notes explain each track in great detail. The only drawback is the type is so small that I think I've suffered permanent eye strain. The band can expect a call from my optometrist and my lawyer sheesh. Oh wait, maybe they warned me maybe THAT is the "curse of SHANK." (Actually the "curse of SHANK" is an inside joke about how everything associated with the band falls apart. My former zine "The Crass Menagerie" was identified by SHANK as an example of this phenomenon. It would also explain this lousy review.)
